My father was an hgv driver, my brother was an hgv driver and guess what they wanted me to become when I was older? You guessed it an hgv driver. You can't make it up. So I was sulking in my bedroom because maybe I want to open up a shopAs it turns out I did. I wanted to sell my drawings. I had drawn all my life but my parents and my brother viewed it as a hobby. My talent was unappreciated.
This was hard for me to take because I loved drawing so muchI had met my dads boss, he was an instructor. I mean he taught motoring. I didn't think of him as an instructor. To me he was Joe. He was one of the guys and when I told Joe the instructor about my drawing he seemed sympathetic.I see how my friends view driving instructors though. This might have played some part in my defiance. They kept telling me they were stiff, meaning rigid and perhaps boring.
I didn't consider myself boring in that way and actually motoring was a passion of mine. I watched formula one a fair bit for example and often dreamt how great it would be to be behind the wheel. However this was a different type of motoring, and there was no thrill factor in it for me. I found it rather mundane but my family always say your jobs your life.
Well I love drawing and if anything is my life - it's that.I like anime, I like animation. I'm creative by nature and so drawing felt natural to me. I was thankfully quite strong minded so I never relented. I talked to my friends all the time about my dream to open a shop. They were quite excited for me as it seemed such a grown up idea with the potential to expand should what I offer be any good. I personally felt it was, I mean I used to draw from morning till night.
I started out drawing landscape, nature before moving on to fantasy and my own creations. I won't forget the day we opened for business. It seems like yesterday. It was yesterday and how excited I am.
