Mindy was only sixteen when she received her first ticket for speeding, while driving to school using her mother's van. She was busy listening to music, and heard the sirens sound very loud behind her! She had not been paying attention to her speed when the officer pulled her over. The officer walked up to her vehicle and asked to see her driver's license and auto insurance. Mindy started to get very nervous when she realized that she did not even know where to look for the insurance. She opened the glove box compartment to find some papers that were still very unfamiliar. She handed the paperwork and her driver's license over to the very heavy set officer. He walked back to his vehicle, while Mindy impatiently waited.
Soon he came back to the auto and handed her a rectangular document that stated various information regarding her speeding, and told her to sign the document. She apologized for speeding and stated that she was running very late for school that morning. He said that she should ensure that regardless of her circumstances, that she should follow all the speed limits required for each location. The officer told her to have a safe day, and thanked her for the fact that she had been wearing her seat belt. After the officer got in his car and drove away, Mindy began to cry. She was worried that she was going to be in major trouble after informing her parents of her situation. She decided to call her mother about the incident immediately, because she didn't want to be worrying about her ticket all day at school. She had several tests to take, and didn't want to disrupt her concentration due to the activity that had taken place that morning! She called her mother and informed her of the ticket, and that she had trouble understanding why the officer asked for the van auto insurance. Her mother stated that she was not upset and that she would search for driving lessons prices for Mindy. Mindy felt relieved that she would not loose privileges to driving the van, but instead was informed to take a class to better prepare her for driving in the future. Mindy decided to tell her friends at school, about the incident. She demanded that her friends should join her while taking her new driving class, because it could prevent them from going through the same experience. Today, Mindy is a teacher for a driving lesson class.
