I was going to take automatic driving lessons but I really wanted a classic car, so I had to bite the bullet and learn to drive a manual car. I was very nervous about learning to drive a manualas I had drummed into my head that the gear changing would be really hard and I wouldn't be able to do it. But it was much easier than I thought and Imanaged to do it fineand passed my test first time.
After I had passed I was looking for a car to buy and Idecided on a VW Beetle. I started researching insurance groups and how much it would cost me, being under 25, to insure an old car like that. I narrowed my search down to 2 insurance groups which were offering pretty similar insurances for the similar amounts. I was unable to make up my mind, and my mum gave me information about 2 other insurance groups. In the end I went with one of the ones I had originally seen and got insured to drive my beautiful Beetle.
A friend of mine also owneda Beetle and told me about some classic car maintenance classes in our area. We joined and started attending the classes. It was great to meet all the different classic car owners and see their cars. I found the classes very helpful as it was based on a hands-on approach. Some of the cars they previously had worked on were now in exhibitions so we got to go and view them, which was really cool. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone.
I now drive a VW Golf, but I do miss my Beetle.I go to a lot of classic car shows in my area and recently went to the Beetle ralley. I hadn't realised how many Beetle enthusiasts there actually are. The Beetle ralleywas such an amazing experience, there were hundreds of Beetles everywhere and allof themwere brilliant. I really fell in love with a camper van, it had a custom paint job and looked stunning. I think my next car is going to be a camper van!
